Marie Bassi was the coordinator of the Center for Economic, Legal, and Social Studies and Documentation (CEDEJ) Khartoum, from September 2023 to December 2025 (after the war, CEDEJ Khartoum was temporarily relocated in Cairo).
She is also an associate professor of political science at the University Côte d’Azur in Nice, France. Her research focuses on Italy’s immigration and asylum policies, on the Sudanese diaspora in France. She also works on Sudanese women displaced to Cairo after the war in Sudan, and on the economic activities of Sudanese in Cairo.
