Omer is a chef, activist, food archivist and author of the recently released The Sudanese Kitchen. His book is the first comprehensive cookery book on Sudanese gastronomy. Omer’s work ranges from documentation to storytelling as he aims to preserve Sudanese culinary heritage for future generations through his book, website, cookery classes and supper clubs. Since the start of the conflict in Sudan, Omer has focused on hosting fundraiser events incorporating food and cinema to support the growing humanitarian aid effort.
