ARKAWIT is a cultural association founded in Paris in June 2025 by Mohammed Eltayeb Hammam, Kateryna Lobodenko, and Omer Shishani. Its primary objective is to promote Sudanese culture and history in France, and more specifically in Paris and the surrounding region, through the organization of cultural events, including an annual film festival – the Sudanese Film Encounters in Paris (Arkawit Festival) – screenings, conferences, and artistic and scientific gatherings; and the production of cinematographic and audiovisual works.
The association also provides support for the creation and distribution of visual, audiovisual and musical works by exiled Sudanese artists.
We stand in solidarity with migrants, immigrants, and refugees, understanding that their circumstances are a consequence of the systemic injustices, poverty, and governance challenges in our world today.
