Human Rights Day is the last day of the UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. For 16 days, we raise awareness on the GBV and sexual violence that is committed against women and girls inside and outside Burma. Since the attempted coup, the Burmese military’s campaign of violence and targeted attacks have added to the rising IDP and refugee numbers. Women and girls within the displaced population are more at risk to GBV and sexual violence due to their vulnerable status and lack of safety and security. We hope to bring together a panel from women’s organizations that are supporting women and girls and/or documenting the rising cases of sexual violence within the IDP/refugee population.
